About Author: Joseph Denis Murphy was his complete name and was born in Ballydehob, County Cork, Ireland, his father was school headmaster of private boys' and raised as a Roman Catholic. In his twenties, before being appointed a minister, an involvement in mending petition drove him to leave the Jesuits and emigrate to the United States in 1922; he voyaged as a steerage passenger, sailing from Liverpool, England, to the Port of New York on board’s traveler show, his occupation was listed as a pharmacist. He became a professional pharmacist in New York City. Here he
attended Church of the Healing Christ .
Career : Murphy traveled to several countries
and also came to India and spent lot of time with Indian sages , for gaining information
about Hindu philosophy. He later on visited America and
formed a new church with the gained Hindu ideologies.
In the
mid-1940's, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious
Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was appointed into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, fromafter teaching at Rochester, New York, and later at the Institute of
Religious Science in Los Angeles. A gathering with Divine Science Association
president Erwin Gregg led to him being reappointed into Divine Science, and he
became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he incorporated
with one of the largest New Thought assemblages in the country.
Personal
life and death:
In the next
decade, he married, earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing various
articles , books , etc .
After his
first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who
was his serving secretary. He moved service to Laguna Hills, California, where he passed away in 1981. His
better half, Dr. Jean Murphy, further served in this ministry for some years
afterwards.

I started reading this book with a motive of
gaining more motivational support in me towards my actions . The book
accurately serves its purpose .It fills one with more moral , ethical ,
inspirational support that one feels satisfied after reading this book . The
book covers several incidents from past and from author’s life which
demonstrates that with strong “Believe in yourself ” we can achieve anything in this world . The
language used in the book is simple and elegant that makes it easy to read and
tasteful .

several historic and real life examples so that the reader could link it with
hiss real life.

The author uses the example of Columbus
, Copernicus and several other personalities in order to create a bond with the
reader . Author tells how by believing in oneself we can achieve great heights
